Role Overview – CNC Setter/Operator

Our client, a leading name in precision engineering within the aerospace sector, is seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Operator (Milling) to join their team. This role involves setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components in line with customer specifications and technical drawings. You will play a key role in maximising stock utilisation, minimising waste, and ensuring adherence to strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities – CNC Setter/Operator

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce components to precise customer and drawing specifications.
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maximise stock utilisation and minimise waste through accurate setup and cutting techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records on the computer-based stock control system and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all products are clearly identified in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Assist in training other operatives to build team capability.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and tidy working environment.

Key Experience & Qualifications – CNC Setter/Operator

  • Proven experience in setting and operating CNC milling machines within a precision engineering or aerospace environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret cutting patterns to optimise stock usage and minimise waste.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and their practical application in a machining environment.
  • Understanding of quality processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • PC literate (e.g., MS Word, Excel, and stock control systems).
  • Self-motivated, diligent, analytical, and numerate with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Current valid counterbalance mechanical handling license.
  • Machine maintenance skills relevant to CNC milling equipment.
  • Ability to be trained as a business-approved stamp holder.
