Role Purpose
Exciting opportunity to work in a live firing range test facility. Support engineering and product testing across a range of systems at our Wimborne site, specialising in cutting-edge air-to-air refuelling systems, advanced refuelling probes, air-to-air and air-to-ground launch systems using pneumatic and pyrotechnic ejection technologies, and a range of Defensive Aids Sub-Systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage area asset control: calibration monitoring, equipment returns, collections.

  • Oversee area control: access, asset allocation, and area maintenance.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical test advice and support to engineering teams.

  • Set up and perform pyro-mechanical weapons release system tests.

  • Set up and execute AAR testing using AAR rig.

  • Compile and record engineering test data.

  • Implement process controls and self-inspection stamps.

  • Perform initial test data analysis and DAQ fault-finding.

  • Support high-speed camera operations when required.

  • Complete and review departmental risk assessments.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities.

  • Maintain clean, safe test areas in line with 5S principles.

  • Proactively develop own skills, supported by team leadership.

  • Cooperate with management on health, safety, and legal duties.

Entry Levels

  • Level 5: Ex-RAF/Esterline or similar, with experience in explosive facilities, fire/control operations, diagnostics, calibration (load cells, pressure gauges), and test result interpretation.

  • Level 4: Intermediate experience bridging Level 3 and 5.

  • Level 3: Technician with strong fault-finding skills, high-pressure systems experience, and technical background (aviation not essential).

Qualifications

  • Recognised aerospace apprenticeship or HM Forces engineering training.

  • ONC/HNC preferred (entry level dependent on experience).

  • Minimum 3 years' aerospace experience.
