- Technical Tax Advisory: Provide specialist advice on complex PAYE matters, including employment status determinations, benefits in kind, and statutory payments
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact for PAYE-related matters
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all PAYE obligations are met within statutory deadlines, including P11D submissions, PSA negotiations, and annual returns
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline PAYE processes and implement best practices across the team
- Team Development: Mentor junior staff members and contribute to training initiatives within the tax department
- Regulatory Updates: Stay current with PAYE legislation changes and communicate impacts to clients and internal teams
- Quality Assurance: Review complex PAYE calculations and provide technical guidance on challenging cases
- PAYE Expertise: Minimum 4 years' experience in PAYE reconciliations within a practice environment
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of UK employment tax legislation, including recent IR35 changes
- Software Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll software systems
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with clients and colleagues
- Attention to Detail: Proven track record of accuracy in complex numerical reconciliations
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively during peak periods
- Professional Qualification: ATT, CTA, or equivalent professional tax qualification
- Payroll Software Experience: Familiarity with leading payroll platforms and tax calculation systems
- Advisory Experience: Background in providing employment tax advice to owner-managed businesses
