An excellent opportunity has arisen for a talented Conservation Architect to join a well-established architectural practice based in the historic heart of Winchester. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for heritage and the conservation of significant historic buildings and sites. Whether you are already conservation-accredited or are working towards accreditation, this position offers the chance to further develop your expertise within a respected and supportive environment.



The Role

Working across a varied portfolio, you will contribute to the conservation, repair and adaptation of heritage assets including listed buildings, scheduled monuments, country houses and ecclesiastical architecture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with senior team members on major heritage schemes

  • Taking ownership of your own projects from early concept through to completion

  • Coordinating with clients, consultants and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes

  • Supporting the wider team across both conservation and non-conservation commissions where needed



About You

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience working with historic buildings and a clear enthusiasm for heritage-led design.

You should ideally offer:

  • Qualifications: RIBA Part III preferred; strong Part II candidates with conservation experience are also encouraged

  • Skills: Strong design, technical and creative abilities, including knowledge of historic building repair

  • Understanding: Good familiarity with all RIBA stages

  • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD; SketchUp and Photoshop beneficial

  • Attributes: Self-motivated, organised, collaborative, and confident handling responsibility and deadlines

  • Practical requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

Accreditation is supported, with structured CPD and opportunities to build a robust conservation portfolio through case-study projects.
