Are you a positive, understanding, and nurturing professional who's passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning and life?

Prospero Teaching are looking for Youth Mentors to support permanently excluded (PEX) learners in Totton and nearby areas. These young people need trusted adults to help them rebuild confidence, develop interests, and reconnect with education through meaningful, tailored sessions.

As a Mentor you will:

  • Re-engaging learners with practical tasks and activities
  • Building positive adult relationships
  • Supporting learners through their hobbies and interests
  • Encouraging personal development and emotional well being

Sessions are designed to be flexible and learner-led, taking place in homes, community spaces, or outdoor settings depending on the young person's needs.

About you:

  • Experience working with young people, especially those with challenging backgrounds
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and adapt to individual needs
  • Creative, empathetic, and resilient approach to mentoring
  • Passion for helping young people discover their strengths and interests

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
