The role:
- As Food Buyer you will manage a designated group of food categories and be responsible for delivering long-term profitability along with budgeted income and terms agreements.
- The Food Buyer will negotiate with the supply base to ensure lowest cost prices and most cost-effective routes to market.
- Working with the category and NPD teams the Food Buyer will deliver range and NPD opportunities that contribute to delivery of the company strategy
- In the role the Food Buyer will work with Supply Chain to ensure that suppliers are delivering SLA’s and meeting customer demand
- The Food Buyer will lead and manage the category review process you recommending cost saving initiatives and present pricing and market analysis with recommendations
Ideal candidate:
- You will be someone who is currently working in a food buying role either within food retail, wholesale, hospitality or foodservice
- As Food Buyer you will demonstrate a passion for trading and a flair for commerciality and negotiation
- In the role of Food Buyer, you will have excellent influencing and presenting skills and will be fantastic at building internal and external relationships
- It is essential to be able to demonstrate hands on buying and have negotiated directly with suppliers demonstrating different tactics and styles.
- You must be a team player and have fantastic communication skills
- As Buyer you must have good insight and data analysis skills and be able to action opportunities to drive profit
- You will have excellent planning and organization skills and will be able to work independently on your own initiative, a self-starter with a can-do attitude
- You will thrive in a highly personable, caring but ambitious driven organization
