Dual Fuel Engineer – Domestic Heating & Hot Water Systems

Our client is seeking an experienced Dual Fuel Engineer to join their busy team, carrying out service and repairs on domestic heating and hot water systems for customers.

Overview of Dual Fuel Role:

The primary responsibility of the Dual Fuel Engineer is to maintain and repair systems that operate on both gas and oil fuels. The engineer will ensure heating and hot water systems are functioning efficiently and safely, completing repairs promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities of a Dual Fuel Engineer:

Maintenance & Repairs - Diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs on oil and gas components.

Compliance & Safety - Ensure all work complies with industry regulations (e.g., Gas Safe, OFTEC) and perform safety checks and risk assessments on fuel systems.

Technical Documentation - Maintain accurate service records and compliance certificates and report on system performance and recommend upgrades or replacements.

Customer Interaction - Liaise with clients to explain issues and solutions and provide technical support and advice on system efficiency.

Additional Duties of a Dual Fuel Engineer:

  • Carry out service and maintenance works on a variety of domestic properties across the region.
  • Ensure high levels of customer care when dealing with clients and tenants, meeting required quality standards.
  • Communicate updates and progress of work, completing paperwork electronically and manually.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and legislation, including Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and COSHH Records.
  • Comply with stock ordering and auditing procedures to ensure relevant parts are available for job completion.

Key Attributes & Requirements

  • Essential gas qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, HTR1.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
  • Certification for unvented hot water cylinders.
  • OFTEC Certification for oil systems (essential): OFT10-101, OFT10-105E, OFT10-600A.
  • Willingness to provide out-of-hours evening and weekend cover on a rota basis.
  • Friendly and professional attitude to build strong relationships with clients and tenants.
  • Completion of appropriate criminal and reference checks is required before employment begins.
