Job Title: Customs Clearance Coordinator

Casanovas Recruitment Solutions are seeking a Customs ClearanceCoordinator to join an experienced team, playing a vital role in managing import and export customs processes. Based between the Ipswich office and Felixstowe operations, you will be at the heart of their customs clearance function, ensuring seamless trade flows for our clients.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Working as part of a supportive team reporting to a Team Leader or Customs Manager
  • Preparing and processing import (CDS) and export (CHIEF) declarations
  • Reviewing and extracting data from commercial invoices and packing lists
  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to obtain mandatory customs information
  • Advising clients on goods classification and regulatory compliance
  • Using industry software systems including CDS, CHIEF, Destin8, CNS, NCTS, NES
  • Ensuring customs compliance and applying correct import licences where required
  • Supporting with appeals, refunds, and tariff reclassifications
  • Preparing key customs documentation such as T-docs, EUR1s, CofOs, CHEDs, and COIs
  • Liaising with customs authorities, Port Health, and other official bodies as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records and upholding high standards of customer service

Required Skills & Desired Experience:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems
  • Numerical, analytical, and detail-oriented mindset
  • Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment
  • Experience working in a customs or international logistics setting
  • Understanding of HMRC regulations and customs documentation
  • Familiarity with CDS, CHIEF, NCTS, and NES systems
  • Knowledge of ETSF warehouse processes
  • A-Level or degree-level education (preferred but not essential)
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex information
