About the Role:
We are seeking a Junior IT Support Engineer to join a fast-growing retail supplier based in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their IT career who is passionate about technology and keen to develop their skills. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day IT operations across the business.
As a Junior IT Support Engineer, you will provide first-line technical support to internal staff, assisting with hardware and software issues, as well as helping with IT projects and system upgrades. This onsite role offers hands-on experience with various IT systems and the opportunity to develop your career through training and mentorship from senior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- First-Line Support: Provide first-line technical support for IT issues, including hardware, software, and network-related queries.
- Ticket Management: Respond to support requests via email, phone, or in person, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Hardware Setup: Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Software Support: Install and troubleshoot business applications, operating systems, and company software.
- System Monitoring: Assist in monitoring system performance, identifying potential issues, and escalating to senior engineers when necessary.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of support requests, incidents, and resolutions, ensuring documentation is updated regularly.
- User Training: Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on new hardware and software where necessary.
- Ad Hoc Tasks: Assist with general IT projects, system upgrades, and migrations as required by the business.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Basic IT Knowledge: Understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic networking principles (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
- Hardware Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware issues with PCs, printers, and peripherals.
- Problem-Solving: Strong interest in problem-solving and learning new technologies.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well with both technical and non-technical users.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Desire to Learn: Eagerness to develop IT skills and build a career in technical support.
