Job Title: Manufacturing Design Engineer – Retail Displays

Market 36 Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Witham for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-quality retail display solutions for leading brands across a variety of industries.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming conceptual retail display designs into detailed, production-ready engineering documentation. You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered with precision, creativity, and cost-efficiency—from prototype to final production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate industrial design concepts into detailed engineering drawings for fabrication
- Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Inventor
- Select suitable materials and processes (wood, metal, acrylic, plastic, print) considering cost, durability, and visual appeal
- Collaborate with production teams and external suppliers to ensure feasibility and accuracy
- Conduct tolerance analysis, create Bills of Materials (BOMs), and evaluate design for manufacture (DFM)
- Provide input on tooling and assembly methods
- Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design development
- Ensure adherence to project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
- Comply with health and safety regulations and client-specific requirements
- Occasional travel for site visits, installations, or supplier meetings may be required
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail display design or custom fabrication
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor
- Strong understanding of materials and processes such as woodworking, metalwork, acrylic forming, and printing
- Knowledge of DFM principles and production constraints
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Capable of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with POP/POS display manufacturing
- Hands-on fabrication or shop-floor experience
- Awareness of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices
- Familiarity with ERP or PDM systems
