Junior Buyer – FMCG

Circa £33,000 - £38,000 - Essex - Hybrid Working - must drive due to office location

We are hiring a Junior Buyer to join our client's experienced international Supply Chain and Procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a purchasing, supply chain or buying assistant to build hands-on experience in international sourcing, supplier management, and buying.

What you'll do:
  • As Junior Buyer you will assist in sourcing and purchasing from global and UK-based suppliers.
  • Liaise with suppliers to support New Product Development (NPD) and source bespoke categories.
  • Help procure sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions.
  • Support supplier communication, order tracking, and delivery scheduling.
  • Create and manage purchase orders using ERP systems.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate forecasts with the Planning team.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations on pricing, terms, and lead times.
  • Work with quality and technical teams to manage documentation and ensure compliance with health and safety.
  • Stay informed on market trends, seasonal availability, and commodity pricing.
  • Contribute to procurement reporting and audit processes.
What we're looking for:
  • A degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience – e.g., in buying, logistics, fmcg or planning roles
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel especially); ERP knowledge a bonus
  • Willingness & interest to learn procurement, supply chain & buying skills, take ownership, and grow your career in this space!
