Product Developer – Licensing

Essex - Office Based - Full Time Permanent Role

Are you passionate about Product Development & with experience in licensed products?  

We are looking for a Product Developer with experience in Licensing to join a globally recognised consumer brand to help shape and deliver best-in-class licensed product ranges globally (UK, US, Far East and Europe). As a product developer, you will support the licensing strategy and develop market-leading collections in partnership with global licensors and top-tier licensees.

Product Developer Responsibilities:
  • Develop exciting licensed product rangesin line with brand strategy, consumer trends, and commercial goals.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external licensees to drive end-to-end product development — from concept to shelf.
  • Champion new licensing opportunities by researching market trends and identifying strategic gaps.
  • Conduct regular market analysis, including retail and digital audits, to keep the product portfolio competitive and relevant.
  • Negotiate with global suppliers, ensuring margin targets, pricing strategies, and product quality standards are met.
  • Manage the sampling process — prototypes, approvals, and supplier timelines — ensuring all stages align with launch deadlines.
  • Oversee cost control by keeping sampling and development budgets on track.
  • Liaise with manufacturing teams and overseas factories, ensuring seamless product execution and commercial viability.
  • Support the Design and Product Manager in executing the global licensing strategy.
  • Travel nationally and internationally as needed to collaborate with global teams and suppliers.
Skills & Experience needed for Product Developer:
  • Proven experience in developing licensed products across consumer categories.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across functions and cultures.
  • Strong negotiation skills to drive value from supplier partnerships.
  • Creative thinking and a commercial mindset to develop compelling, high-performing ranges.
  • Strong analytical skills, confident in using market data and sales insights to influence decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ambition to grow and lead projects in a dynamic business environment.
