Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Essex

Contract Duration: ASAP- 4 Weeks

Working Hours: 3 days per week (Monday-Friday)

Rate: £27.00ph - £30.00ph (Umbrella Equivalent)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to take the clinical lead in providing expert assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders for adults with stroke or frailty-related conditions. This role spans both our Cumberlege Intermediate Care Centre (CICC) and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Service, supporting our vision of empowering patients through recovery and independence.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Deliver specialist care for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
  • Lead service development initiatives, including nurse dysphagia training programmes.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to less experienced SLTs and rehabilitation assistants.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to shape best practice in stroke and frailty services.
  • Ensure effective care planning, capacity assessments, and safe handovers across services.

What We’re Looking For

  • HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Significant experience working with adults with stroke and/or frailty.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead on clinical pathways and service improvement.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Passion for collaborative, person-centred care.
