A growing and dynamic Civil Engineering contractor is looking to appoint a motivated Technical Civil Engineer to support the delivery of a diverse range of projects across construction, repair and improvement of roads, bridges and sewers in the Civil Engineering sector, through to new build, refurbishment. The Site Engineer will be covering the South-Central region based out their office near Whitney. Projects range up to 6 million and span residential, commercial, education sectors.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer seeking a varied role that combines site engineering, setting out, QA/client interaction, and technical documentation. The successful candidate will work directly with the Director of Civil Engineering and benefit from significant exposure across the full project lifecycle - with real opportunity for rapid professional growth within a collaborative, small-team environment.



Technical Civil Engineer Job Overview

  • Perform setting out duties and manage site engineering functions across up to four live sites.
  • Conduct as-built surveys, maintain accurate site records, and prepare job logs and technical reports.
  • Liaise closely with clients, site managers, and subcontractors to ensure QA compliance and support client reporting.
  • Assist in programme updates, progress monitoring, and coordination of construction activities.
  • Contribute to quality control, including inspections, test plans and snagging.
  • Support the development and review of Method Statements and RAMS.
  • Participate in reviewing design documentation and offering engineering input on constructability and sequencing.
  • In time, assist in pricing works, reviewing costs, and supporting commercial evaluations.


Technical Civil Engineer Job Requirements

  • HNC or higher in Civil Engineering (minimum requirement).
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Prior experience in setting out and site engineering on Civil Engineering projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and interpret technical documentation.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and able to manage time across multiple sites.
  • Local to Witney or within a commutable distance, with willingness to travel to regional project sites.
  • Fast thinker and the ability to make decisions
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, close-knit delivery team.
