Electrical Controls Engineer | Industrial Automation & Safety Systems

Location: Oxford | Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE) | Hours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00

Are you an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge industrial automation and safety systems? We are seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in electrical design, PLC programming, safety system development, and compliance to join a leading engineering team.

This role is ideal for someone with strong electrical design experience, a deep understanding of regulatory compliance (CE & safety standards), and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality automation solutions on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical & Automation Design – Lead the full system electrical design, including integrating specialist sub-systems, producing drawings, and developing technical specifications.Regulatory & Compliance – Ensure all designs adhere to CE, safety, and industry standards while compiling essential documentation.Safety System Development – Conduct risk assessments, design and test safety systems, and generate compliance reports.PLC Programming & Integration – Develop and write PLC programs for automation control or oversee outsourced contractors when required.Supplier & Project Management – Select, qualify, and manage suppliers to ensure all outsourced work meets quality, budget, and delivery schedules.Product & System Improvement – Innovate and refine existing electrical and automation systems for improved efficiency and performance.Collaboration – Work alongside mechanical engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to integrate seamless automation solutions.Electrical Assembly Support – Provide technical guidance and oversight to build teams and external suppliers.

Essential Skills & Experience:

? Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.? 4+ years of hands-on experience in electrical control system design, build, and testing.? Strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, and control systems.? In-depth knowledge of safety system design, programming, and testing (PILZ preferred).? Expertise in CE compliance, electrical testing, and industry regulations.? Strong problem-solving and innovation skills to improve designs and processes.? Excellent documentation, project management, and communication skills.
