The Burford Recruitment Company is delighted to be working with a highly respected financial services organisation to recruit an experienced 2nd Line IT Systems Support Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated IT professional to join a supportive in-house team, providing technical support across multiple sites and contributing to the ongoing development of the company’s IT systems.

The Role

As part of a small, collaborative IT team, you will provide second-line technical support (with occasional involvement in third-line escalations) to colleagues across the business. You will handle a wide range of technical issues, ensuring high standards of service while supporting the organisation’s growth and IT strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 2nd line response to IT queries via phone, remote access, and deskside support.
  • Installing and configuring hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Supporting the company’s Microsoft Cloud and Azure environment.
  • Escalating recurring issues to senior IT colleagues as required.
  • Contributing to IT development projects and business continuity planning.
  • Building effective relationships with third-party IT suppliers.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and suggesting service enhancements.
  • Working primarily in Witney (4 days per week) with 1 day per week in Henley, plus occasional travel to other offices.
  • Providing occasional out-of-hours support when necessary.
About You

We are seeking a confident, proactive IT professional with:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS (server and client).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ideally Microsoft 365.
  • Experience supporting servers, networks, firewalls, desktops, laptops, thin clients, and printers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, user-friendly support.
  • A methodical, detail-focused approach, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to work effectively within a small team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Citrix and VMWare (or similar virtualisation technologies).
  • Previous experience within financial services.
