Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to take on a leadership role in a high-impact highways maintenance contract? We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function of the team- driving value, governance, and stakeholder success in a collaborative and progressive environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll be the commercial lead on the Surrey team. You'll be responsible for ensuring cost-effective project delivery while aligning with our client's expectations and our business goals. This role is pivotal in supporting contract compliance, procurement, supply chain management, and continuous improvement across all commercial activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cost control and financial reporting, including subcontractor payments and client applications.
- Prepare accurate valuations, forecasts, and final accounts in line with contract requirements.
- Manage procurement activities and build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and contract records.
- Drive compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
- Foster excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Champion continuous improvement, environmental initiatives, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Contribute to achieving productivity and financial targets in line with RIS Business Plan objectives.
Measures of Success
- Timely delivery of monthly applications and reporting deadlines.
- Cost and value aligned with annual budgets and targets.
- Accurate and full identification of value across all workstreams.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within highways or civil engineering.
- Skilled in cost control, commercial reporting, and contract administration.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Positive, solution-focused attitude and willingness to travel between depots.
Desirable:
- Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with Confirm Client Ordering system.
- Experience managing environmental and carbon reduction initiatives.
