My client is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in a busy and varied role.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality financial support to play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
Job Overview:As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the finance department by preparing and maintaining accurate financial records. You’ll be involved in managing accounts payable, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting both operational and overhead accounting processes. This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong IT proficiency (particularly in Excel), and the ability to work to deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality administrative accounting support in line with set timelines
Collate and process daily BACS and cheque payments (approx. 1,600 payments per month)
Prepare and send remittance advices and print/mail cheques
Perform daily bank reconciliations
Update bespoke in-house systems and Xero with payment and invoice details
Assist with client billing and monthly invoicing, including generating customer statements
Process accounts payable transactions and overhead invoices using internal systems
Review data from internal systems, investigate discrepancies, and liaise with operations teams
Handle internal and external queries efficiently
Person / Experience Required:
Experience in a similar administrative or accounting environment
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables)
Previous experience with Xero and accounts payable processes (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to self-manage, prioritise tasks, and work to deadlines
Flexible, team-oriented approach with a positive attitude toward supporting business needs
