- Lead the day-to-day operations of the conference and events team, ensuring timely setup, execution, and breakdown of all events.
- Maintain consistent service standards and brand expectations throughout event operations.
- Monitor event spaces to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and appropriate setup.
- Ensure all AV, lighting, staging, and technical requirements are met in coordination with technical staff or external suppliers.
- Recruit, train, and supervise the conference & events operations team, including temporary or casual staff.
- Create and manage team schedules based on event calendars and operational demands.
- Conduct regular briefings and post-event debriefings to drive performance and improve service.
- Collaborate with the sales and planning team to fully understand client needs and event specifications.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients during event execution, ensuring responsiveness and problem- solving on-site.
- Manage client expectations, respond to last-minute changes, and ensure a smooth guest journey.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety, fire, and food hygiene regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working practices for all staff and guests.
- Oversee the proper handling and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Support the development and management of operational budgets.
- Monitor costs and control labour, equipment, and inventory to meet budgetary goals.
- Ensure accurate billing and post-event financial reconciliation in collaboration with the finance department.
- Gather and analyse guest feedback and operational data to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement & drive service enhancements and innovation in event delivery.
- Implement sustainability practices where applicable.
- Proven experience in conference and event operations within a 4- or 5-star hotel or hospitality venue.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of event logistics, food & beverage service, and AV coordination.
- Familiarity with event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field.
- First Aid and Health & Safety certifications are an advantage.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and trends in hospitality and events.
