Stress Engineer / Senior Stress Engineer

My client is a world leader in aerospace actuation systems, who are seeking a Contract Stress Engineer or Senior Stress Engineer to join the Military Actuation team based in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity to work on primary flight control actuators across the full product lifecycle from initial concept through to in-service support of legacy products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis on mechanical and hydraulic flight control systems.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the full product lifecycle including New Product Introduction (NPI), production support, and legacy product improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, performance, test, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Lead or support technical investigations and present findings to senior leadership and customers.
What We're Looking For:
  • Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Aerospace Systems Engineering.
  • Proven experience in aerospace stress analysis, ideally in primary flight control actuators.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability in hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards, safety regulations, and materials.
  • Familiarity with tools such as ANSYS, Mathcad, and NX (or similar).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) within aerospace.
  • Understanding of APQP tools including DFMEA/PFMEA and Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA).
  • Ability to plan and deliver analysis in line with engineering schedules and project goals.
