Our client is seeking an experienced Test & Analysis Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract basis. You will be working for a well-established company who specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and commissioning of customised solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.

ROLE PURPOSE

  • To lead the analytical element of commissioning activities.
  • Organise and manage resources to conduct physical testing, to observe, collate & analyse data.
  • To use theoretical knowledge and/or experience of material science and test equipment to effectively interpret data.
  • Prepare documents and reports, recommendations for approval within defined time, cost and quality standards set by the company.
  • Execution of technically compliant deliverables in accordance with program KPIs.
  • Capable of leading and aligning a multi-discipline team to deliver the appropriate solution.
  • Provide Engineering Support to commissioning and testing process.
  • To work flexibly to undertake a variety of analysis/commissioning tasks associated with the design & test of high integrity mechanical plant and systems.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Undertaking combined analysis and commissioning tasks, particularly in relation to analytical data, as required using appropriate calculations and tools, using own knowledge and experience, but recognising the need for consulting other discipline specialists, both internal and external to the engineering department and initiating this action through the supervisor.
  • Write and check technical and non-technical documentation and support the supervisor in any technical discussion with outside bodies or customers.
  • Present documents and results in a manner suitable for auditing and approval
  • Interface & co-ordinate with other engineering disciplines
  • To be capable of properly identifying test and client's requirements, scope of works and costs relevant to his/her disciplines both for bids and contract execution
  • The Engineer will establish the detailed requirements and formulate day-to-day plans to meet the objectives and timescales.
  • Supervision, verification and production of deliverables
  • To identify the possible need for the acquisition of new knowledge/updates and of technical Know-How development for his/her unit
  • Implementation of UK H&S legislation and appropriate standards
  • Adherence to relevant company policies and procedures
  • Lead discussions with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure that programmes are delivered to specification, cost and time
  • Specifying works to be carried out by other areas or organisations, as authorised by supervisor.
  • When sub-contractors are involved, consult with them in detailed technical terms at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • To escalate issues and seek advice from the Head of Unit when encountering complex problems
  • To support the Project Manager in technical discussion with Clients
  • Maintaining adequate records for all completed work to satisfy company and national quality and legal requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Knowledge of Material Science

Experienced document author

Working knowledge of test equipment and testing procedures

Engineering degree

Ideally minimum of 5 years continuous and relevant experience since graduation

Familiar with ASME VIII & PED

Familiar with Finite element analysis (Ansys Workbench)

Familiar with MathCad

Familiar with LabVIEW, not essential

Working knowledge of Risk Assessments

Nuclear industry experience, not essential

Broad knowledge comprising static, thermal, dynamic, non-linear design and the application to test data.

Must be a UK Passport holder
