Maintenance Engineer – Energy from Waste
£57,000 + bonus + benefits + OT

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Team Leader to join an Energy from Waste power station in Staffordshire. This plant processes around 340,000 tonnes of waste generating around 23MW of power for the national grid – enough to power over 55,000 homes. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the execution of all mechanical and electrical engineering activities across the site.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling work orders in the CMMS for the maintenance team
  • Outage planning and execution working alongside the EC&I Engineer and Maintenance Manager
  • Supporting the Maintenance Manager with technical information to assist budget planning
  • Support and advise the technical administrator to ensure equipment is serviced and maintained in accordance with the statutory regulations– e.g. PSSR, LOLER, PUWER
  • Working with the Maintenance Manager in the planning and execution of planned and unplanned shutdowns
  • Providing support to maintenance teams and site contractors with scheduling and planning
  • Deputise for the Maintenance Manager during periods of absence

This role is a days based role Monday to Friday

Experience and Qualifications

  • An apprenticeship in mechanical/EC&I engineering or similar along with an HNC/ONC level qualification
  • Proven engineering or maintenance experience in a relevant heavy process environment, ideally in a senior Technician or Engineer role – power plant, refinery, cement works, steel works, chemical site etc. Marine Engineers with significant experience will also be considered at Petty Officer level or above
  • Practical experience in an engineering or maintenance role with plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, compressors, conveyor systems, turbines, switchgear, transformers, motors, PLCs etc
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
  • A good understanding of statutory regulations such as LOLER, PUWER, PSSR etc
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., health and safety and environmental etc.
