SEMH Teaching Assistant – ASAP start
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment this September. This is a full-time role, working 5 days a week, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons to meet students' specific needs
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
- Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Work with teachers to implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
- Assist with any personal care needs, if required
- Adhere to safeguarding and child protection guidelines
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A Level 3 qualification or at least 6 months’ experience in an educational setting
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work pro actively with students who may have challenging behaviour
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
