Morson are working with a Aerospace and Defence Manufacturer based in Wolverhampton and they are looking for a Production Planner to join the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute effective production plans to minimize line disruption and optimize resource utilization.
  • Proactively engage with the supply chain team and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of components and materials.
  • Establish clear priorities for material allocation, component production, rework, OE, and machining shop activities.
  • Attend weekly Supply Chain meetings as well as regular Operations and Customer Service meetings to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Review the OB daily, checking material availability for new repair orders, and updating old orders with any relevant information.
  • Constantly check with internal suppliers to ensure all commitments are still on plan.
  • Escalate and chase components to achieve OTD targets.
  • Ensure parts are delivered on time to the repair shop floor.
  • Communicate regularly with operations, customer service representatives, and other key stakeholders regarding updates, delays, or improvements to production schedules.
  • Identify potential risks to the production schedule and implement proactive solutions to mitigate disruptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and improve planning processes.
  • Act as a supportive team member by covering for other planners and the Planning Lead during short-term absences.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling processes and increase overall efficiency.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in a production planning role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to keep all stakeholders informed of key updates.
  • Proactive and independent working style, capable of taking initiative and making informed decisions without managerial prompting.
  • Collaborative mindset, demonstrating strong teamwork and support for colleagues.
  • Experience using planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee potential issues and implement solutions.

Key Objectives:

  • Achieve and maintain 97%+ OTD performance.
  • Ensure minimal production line disruptions through accurate and effective planning.
  • Provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders, ensuring awareness of any production changes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in production planning, supply chain management, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and material flow.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
