Educational Support Worker

As an Educational Support Worker, you will be a vital part of the school community, providing both academic and emotional support to students with a range of complex needs. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure pupils receive the tailored assistance they need to thrive in a learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students in and out of the classroom
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, ASD, and learning difficulties
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Assist with the development of students' communication, independence, and social skills
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where every student feels safe and supported
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers
- Encourage student engagement and motivation, promoting a love of learning
- Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral care practices
The ideal Educational Support Worker will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient in challenging situations
- Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Have a flexible, proactive approach to working across various settings
- Ideally hold relevant qualifications or training in education, youth work or SEN (not essential)
