Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Stores Assistant to work within the Lincolnshire Police Force based at Nettleham. This is an ongoing role until at least the end of March 2026 at present

Locations: Nettleham (Lincolnshire Police HQ, Office based)

Rate: 12.31 per hour

Hours: Part time working Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 8am to 4.30pm 23 hour per week

JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

To provide an efficient and comprehensive Stores service to members of Lincolnshire Police who wear uniform. This will include the initial kitting of Police Officers and Staff, routine replacement and responding to requests to kit officers for specialist operations and emergency situations. Maintaining stock levels will be a key element of this role.

CORE WORK AREAS:

  1. Approve internal requisitions from Police Officers and Staff for replacement uniform, in line with scale of issue limits.
  2. Raise purchase orders to external suppliers to ensure the availability of stock, considering the lead time of suppliers. Chase Suppliers for deliveries when over the expected delivery date.
  3. Utilise and maintain the computerised stock control system. Ensure the system is kept up to date with issues and returns and provide management information and statistics as required.
  4. Ensure that incoming goods are checked, receipted, and stored as appropriate. Highlight any issues in terms of quality or shortfall from purchase order quantities and seek to resolve with the supplier.
  5. Ensure that items are picked, packed and despatched from the Stores promptly to users.
  6. Ensure any uniform returns to Stores are credited back to the stock control system.
  7. Undertake uniform kittings, measuring individuals and using garment guides to ensure the appropriate size uniform is issued to new starters.
  8. Assist in regular stock checks, and an annual stocktake as per force guidance.
  9. Ensure uniform that is at end of life is disposed of in accordance with Force policy. Reusing specialist items such as handcuffs and batons when appropriate.
  10. Assist the Stores Officer as required to meet demand.
  11. Ensure the Stores are kept neat and tidy to meet all health and safety requirements, and that safe practices of working are followed, such as manual handling and working at height.

Qualifications/ Training & Skills:

  • 3 GCE/GCSE Grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Proven computer skills, with knowledge and experience of Windows based and/or Oracle applications.
  • Basic Health and Safety training or qualification
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Good understanding and knowledge of stock control and audit processes
  • Experience of working to deadlines, with the ability to prioritise workloads that delivers results through effective planning and organisation
  • Experience of computerised stock control systems
  • Knowledge and experience gained by previously working in a uniformed stores environment.
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Be able to work and communicate effectively and fluently with a range of people
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with a range of people, departments, and organisations
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates self-motivation
  • Demonstrates a flexible and adaptable approach to respond to changing demands
  • Physically fit to move stock around the Stores environment.
  • Ability to hold a position of trust where security of stock and valuables has to be maintained
