Reed Procurement and Supply Chain are working with an established and growing manufacturing business in the Worcestershire area.

We are seeking a Logistics Manager to oversee and coordinate the storage, transportation, and delivery of goods. This role is crucial for ensuring that stock is maintained and moved efficiently, meeting safety, customer quality, cost, delivery, and legislative compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will lead the logistics function within budget and output targets to exceed customer expectations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage an accurate inventory of warehouse materials.
  • Schedule and track inbound and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely delivery as per client criteria.
  • Assess and recommend shipping methods, routing, or carriers to meet necessary parameters, specifications, and costs.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and manage the end-to-end subcontract process.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern logistics principles by identifying deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, and processes.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships, both internal and external.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Lead and manage the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruiting high-calibre employees, and identifying training needs.
  • Conduct appraisals, manage attendance, and handle disciplinary issues.
  • Ensure risk assessments are carried out and countermeasures implemented to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Promote high standards through personal example and team engagement.
  • Manage monthly and year-end stocktakes in the logistics department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to degree level preferred, ILM Certificate of level 3 or above, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a logistics environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in import/export.
  • Man- management experience
  • Experience of working with an ERP system
