We’re supporting our client, a global, leading manufacturer based in Worcester, who are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have previous experience in a related industry, as well as a proven track record of managing technical projects.
Job Summary: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the product development process in terms of capital equipment implementation, process development, manufacturing estimates, tool development with vendors and continuous improvement efforts and to take a positive lead position in the project team.
Responsibilities for Manufacturing Engineer:
- Develop and recommend detailed specifications for and co-ordinate the implementation of capital projects.
- Work with the design departments and outside vendors to specify tooling requirements to support new products and also to investigate and implement improvements for existing tooling.
- To lead and participate in problem solving activities to identify root causes and to recommend sound corrective actions both practically and financially.
- To lead design reviews, FMEA and APQP and to recommend modifications that lead to more robust designs and improve the manufacturability of the product.
- To investigate and suggest improvements to the manufacturing process that lead to improvements in product quality and productivity on an ongoing basis.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for the three product pillars and for any improvements to productivity that may be suggested or specified. To obtain estimates for modifications to tooling in conjunction with Supply Chain.
- Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Technical Manager or Unit Manager.
- Keep continuous and accurate records of all matters concerning individual projects that may be worked on and keep all those involved in the projects fully informed as to the status of those projects.
About You:
- Degree in Engineering or related Technical Field.         Â
- 2 years’ experience in related industry.
- Proven track record of managing technical projects.    Â
- Knowledge of TS16949, APQP and FMEA processes.
- Team leading ability and able to present reports both verbally and using PowerPoint presentations. Â
- Second language an advantage.
