Ganymede Solutions are working with one of the largest UK Train Operating Companies (currently operating 464 stations, the most of any TOC in the UK), who are seeking to recruit a Train Cleaner to join the train cleaning team at Workington Station Sidings. Ganymede Solutions are a stock market recognised recruitment agency, specialising in the transportation, infrastructure, construction and engineering sectors on both permanent and contract basis.

The company covers the whole of the North, which includes the Northeast & West of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as the occasional part of the East Midlands and Staffordshire. As a result of this, they have a large fleet of trains – 333 to be precise, so it's safe to say you will be active & busy with your role!

 

The Role:

We are currently looking for an individual to join the night shift cleaning team, where you will be carrying out all aspects of interior and exterior cleaning, which includes duties such as:

  • Hoovering
  • Mopping
  • Sanitizing touch points
  • Cleaning/restocking toilets
  • Cleaning graffiti
  • Changing bins
  • Picking up litter

You will typically be working within a team of four Train Cleaners, plus one Team Leader carrying out heavy and deep cleans on the Northern Rail fleet. This is a very fast paced and intensive role that requires a good eye for detail, as you will be cleaning everything on the inside of the train that the public can and cannot see.

You will be working 4 shifts across the week (Sunday to Saturday roster), with the working hours being 21:00 – 01:00, sometimes finishing at 02:00 when needed. You will be guaranteed 17.5 hours a week.

Pay Rate & Benefits:

The pay rate for the train cleaner position will be at £13.05 per hour on an initial 6-month basis.

Requirements:

  • Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
  • Be able to pass a full railway medical – this will include, sight, hearing, colourisation, heart, lungs, brain, etc
  • Be able to attend a week of training at Allerton Depot (Liverpool) on 07/07/2025
  • Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment
  • Happy to help mentality/attitude
  • A good level of fitness is needed as the site is very large and will involve a lot of walking, so please keep this in mind when applying
