Supply Chain Manager - Infrastructure Delivery - Water

Hybrid - 3 days Office based - 2 Days remote

Position Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is an operational contract hands-on delivery and support role This is a dual reporting role with line management responsibility into the Operational Contract and a dotted line to the Head of Supply Chain Water.

Line management and development responsibility of the material purchase order administration team, leading local supplier negotiations, performance monitoring, cost and quality assured purchasing of project specific construction, potable water, and wastewater materials to support delivery of multiple infrastructure projects in accordance with industry regulations and central Group Supply Chain alignment of policies and procedures.

Supply Chain Manager key responsibilities


- Manage, develop and lead the material purchase order team, ensuring accurate system usage and governance in respect of purchase order raising, approval workflow monitoring, timely goods receipting and resolution of invoice queries in line with system and Group standards
- Manage transparent and fair relationships with suppliers and subcontractors specialising in water and waste infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Head of Supply Chain Water to support development and execution of local procurement strategies ensuring alignment with group strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Negotiate pricing, and delivery terms to optimise cost savings and ensure quality standards on a project-by-project basis.
- Follow central Supply Chain processes, in respect of tendering, supply chain assurance/ prequalification
- Ensure timely and cost-efficient procurement of construction materials, pumps and pipes.
- Collaborate with group supply chain, estimators, project managers and engineers to align procurement with project needs and compliance requirements.
- Monitor local supplier performance in line with Group performance framework, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to contractual agreements.
- Analyse contract procurement trends, generate reports, and identify cost-saving opportunities for sharing with Senior Operational and Group Supply Chain Management.

- Generate savings to recover the cost of your role and the material ordering support team as a minimum with further supported targeted cost savings to be determined which contributes to the contract's profitability
- Timely and accurate goods receipting ensuring no 'on stop' scenarios
- Adherence to group governance around sourcing, tendering and enquiries and authority levels

Supply Chain Manager Qualifications and Skills


- Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement within the civil engineering, water, and wastewater sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, potable water and wastewater pipelines.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers in the engineering and infrastructure industry.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with procurement regulations, industry standards, and sustainability practices.
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
- Analytical skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Negotiation skills: Strong negotiation skills with experience negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of supply chain management.
