As our College Community Support Officer at our West Durrington campus, you will provide the first response to incidents across the College site, assist Managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem-solving approach to highlighted issues and implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.

What you’ll do as our College Community Support Officer:

  • Provide first response to incidents across the College site.
  • Be aware of any areas of concern and assist managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem solving approach to highlighted issues, and to implement de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.
  • Liaise with curriculum and support teams where appropriate to provide advice, guidance and holistic support to students and staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with the College’s core values.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise with external organisations, as appropriate, including for example, contribution to internal events for road safety, wellbeing and e-safety.
  • Where applicable or appropriate, work with Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and any associated radio links or watch schemes, to provide a proactive and regularly assisted support across the College and as appropriate in the local community.
  • Support the transportation of students to and from the train station, working with the station staff to promote positive behaviour.

What we’re looking for in our College Community Support Officer:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent at C grade or above
  • Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area e.g. Coaching, Health and Social Care, Youth Work
  • Experience of working with young people (including 14-19 year olds) and vulnerable adults
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviour
  • Experience in delivering training in the workplace    
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases
  • Knowledge in safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, including Prevent
