Join our dedicated team as a Learning Support Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of SEN needs, including those with complex needs both within and outside mainstream classes and SEN Unit. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about providing both academic and pastoral support to help students integrate into mainstream classes.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work alongside subject teachers in mainstream classes to support students’ access to learning, adapting curriculum materials as necessary.
  • Implement strategies and actions detailed within individual plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ responses and progress against targets through observation and recording.
  • Support students during unstructured times, including break and lunchtimes, providing a variety of activities.
  • Supervise students on trips, visits, and out of school activities.
  • Act as a “key worker” for individuals or groups of students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educated to level 2 with good qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with young people and in an educational environment.
  • Ability to motivate students and engage them with their learning.
  • Proficient in maintaining data and other records accurately.
  • Effective communication skills with both students and staff.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Experience of collaborative team-working is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the secondary curriculum, inclusion issues, and requirements of SEND legislation is desirable.
