An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspiring and dynamic Head of English to join a thriving independent school in Yateley, Hampshire, from September 2025.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced English specialist who can lead a small but vibrant department, inspiring pupils across the ability range and contributing fully to the life of a warm, nurturing, and creative school environment. The successful candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for literature and language, excellent subject knowledge, and the leadership skills to further develop and promote English across all Key Stages.

The Role:
- Lead and manage the English department, overseeing curriculum development, assessment, and teaching standards.
- Deliver outstanding English lessons across Key Stages 3-5, with a focus on inspiring a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
- Foster a supportive and ambitious learning environment that nurtures each student's confidence and abilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular learning and enrichment activities.
- Take an active role in the broader life of the school, contributing to co-curricular opportunities and school events.
Person Specification:
- A degree in English or a related subject and QTS (or equivalent).
- Significant teaching experience, including at GCSE and A-Level.
- Previous experience of leadership or departmental responsibility is desirable but not essential.
- An innovative, enthusiastic, and approachable professional, committed to promoting high standards and student wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
