Quality Assurance Lead

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure the highest standards of product quality and compliance.

This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our ISO9001-certified quality management system, supporting the manufacture of electrical sub-assemblies and finished products for our customers. You'll take ownership of product compliance, calibration systems, and the final inspection and release process - ensuring everything leaving the site is built to specification and "fit for purpose."

You'll be managing and mentoring the Quality Release Inspector while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce quality risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all products meet drawing and/or specification requirements.
    * Work with production cell teams to assess, document, and reduce quality risks through FMEAs.
    * Develop and maintain quality control plans for all product groups.
    * Conduct and oversee inspections of electro-mechanical assemblies and finished products.
    * Verify documentation and certifications for incoming and outgoing goods.
    * Manage the Return to Stock (RTS) process, ensuring materials are 'fit for purpose'.
    * Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
    * Oversee final quality sign-off for dispatch, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
    * Manage calibration and ESD control systems across the site.
    * Supervise and develop the Quality Release Inspector.
    * Support internal audits and report on stores perpetual audit results.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:
* Proven experience in quality assurance within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of ISO9001 quality systems and documentation.
* Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings and parts lists.
* Experience with FMEAs, process control, and quality control plans.
* Knowledge of electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements and calibration systems.
* Confident using Microsoft Office and computerised stock control/MRP systems (e.g., SYSPRO).
* Strong attention to detail, communication, and leadership skills.

Desirable:
* Experience inspecting solder joints, crimping, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
* Lean Six Sigma certification.
* Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance or equivalent.
