Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

September - £23,000-£25,000 - Full Time, Permanent - Yateley

Are you experienced in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? A thriving independent school in Yateley is seeking a skilled and empathetic Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join its dedicated team from September 2025.

This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of the emotional and social needs of children with SEN, who is committed to helping them access learning and feel safe, understood, and valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted emotional literacy support to pupils with a range of SEN

  • Work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to tailor interventions

  • Foster confidence, communication skills, and resilience in vulnerable learners

  • Maintain accurate progress records and contribute to EHCP reviews where relevant

  • Support transitions and reduce barriers to learning through structured emotional support

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified ELSA (or in training), ideally with SEN experience

  • A strong understanding of autism, ADHD, attachment, or SEMH needs

  • Patience, creativity, and a calm, consistent approach

  • Excellent collaboration skills with staff, families, and external agencies

  • Ability to travel to Yateley
