Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of underwater defence technology. This role offers the chance to work on innovative and complex projects that support naval and defence customers worldwide.The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering integrated maritime systems.   • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather, document, and refine customer requirements, contributing to system design and architecture across underwater domains.
  • Work closely with project managers and sales teams to support the development of technical proposals and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Lead technical efforts from concept through to final system delivery—on time, on budget, and to spec—while resolving any technical issues that arise.
  • Develop and execute rigorous testing and validation processes for hardware, firmware, and software components.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including specifications, designs, reports, and manuals.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, escalating where necessary.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers, providing expert advice and support.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in engineering and operational processes.
Skills & ExperienceEssential:
  • Background in engineering design, systems architecture, or systems engineering—preferably within the defence or maritime sector.
  • Experience working directly with customers, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Strong ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within agreed timelines and adapting to evolving requirements.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of project/task management methodologies.
  • Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle in defence.
  • Awareness of defence capability frameworks or similar structures.
QualificationsEssential:
  • Degree in an engineering discipline such as systems, mechanical, electrical, software, or communications engineering.
Desirable:
  • Chartered Engineer status.
Other Information
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
  • Security Clearance: UK nationals only (no dual nationality). Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC).
  • Medical: No regular medical required.
