We are looking for Youth Support Workers who are kind and caring and have a genuine desire to support young people, helping them develop confidence, resilience and level of independence.

This Youth Support Worker role is based at an independent residential college in Yeovil that provides specialist further education and residential care for students aged 16 to 25 years who have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other moderate to severe learning disabilities including behavioural, emotional and complex needs (including medical)

  • 15 per hour (including holiday pay)
  • Day shifts - 08:30 - 15:00 or 14:30-22:00
  • Rota includes weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Based in Lufton, Yeovil - free parking on site
  • Training provided - Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification, MAPA (Management of Actual and Potential Aggression)

About the Youth Support Worker role

  • Helping students to access education, health and leisure services, including activities like animal therapy, swimming or cinema visits
  • Build relationships with students between 16 and 25 years of age, providing emotional support during both highs and lows.
  • Acting as a positive role model for students, encouraging them to take part in activities and join clubs
  • Assisting to create a caring, stimulating and safe environment in which to live and learn
  • Providing students with the guidance they need to boost their independence skills
  • Undertaking various household tasks, including intimate personal care reasonably required for students
  • Ensuring that documentation including student files / electronic records are up to date

What we need from you

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with children, young people or adults with special educational needs, such as teaching assistant, care work, supported living, social work etc
  • Consistent weekly availability, to ensure stability for the students.
