Senior Ecologist

We're on the lookout for a Senior Ecologist to join a well-established consultancy based in York. You'll have the chance to work on a wide variety of projects - from local conservation initiatives to major infrastructure developments. What We're Looking For;

  • Previous experience working in ecological consultancy or a related field.

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline - a Master's or PhD would be a bonus.

  • Strong skills in ecological survey methods, data analysis, and report writing.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Solid knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological best practices.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Lead and manage ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies across a range of projects.

  • Conduct and supervise fieldwork, including protected species surveys, habitat evaluations, and ongoing ecological monitoring.

  • Prepare high-quality ecological reports, impact assessments, and tailored mitigation strategies.

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, offering expert advice and building strong, professional relationships.

  • Support and guide junior ecologists, with opportunities to take on mentoring responsibilities.

  • Ensure all project work complies with relevant environmental legislation, planning policies, and best practice standards.
