Our client, a long-standing and highly regarded electrical contractor based near York, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator who is also capable of managing their own projects from start to finish.

With a team of dedicated staff and a strong reputation for reliability and quality, they deliver a broad range of electrical works from high-spec commercial fit-outs to small-scale residential jobs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a hybrid estimating/project management role where your input truly makes a difference and your work is appreciated.

About the Role:

This is a dual-role position that combines electrical estimating with project delivery responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the company director and wider team, managing projects typically valued up to 250,000. These are mostly high-volume, low-value jobs fast-paced and varied in scope.

You'll spend time both in the office and on-site, so being based within around 45 minutes of the York office is essential.

You'll be expected to work independently on tenders and job management, liaising with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are accurately costed and efficiently delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and site visits.
  • Manage end-to-end tender processes including supplier and subcontractor liaison.
  • Assess technical documents and client requirements to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
  • Oversee awarded projects, managing timelines, budgets, labour, materials, and on-site coordination.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, consultants, and internal teams to keep projects on track.
  • Assist with site surveys, variation pricing, and final account preparation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying cost-saving opportunities and best practices.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical estimating (commercial or residential sectors).
  • A solid understanding of electrical systems and installation practices.
  • Experience managing electrical projects, including resource planning and client liaison.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a busy workload.
  • Good commercial awareness and attention to detail in costing and reporting.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to the York office and local sites
