Group Surveying Manager
A leading house builder have a requirement for a Group Surveying Manager to join their Group function. As a Group Surveying Manager, you will provide overall independent Commercial Assurance to the Group through analytical data reviews & attendance at Regional monthly CVR meetings. You will also provide support to Divisions & Regions on Commercial processes, systems, onboarding & risk analysis.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Independent Commercial Assurance reporting into central function to provide detailed analysis of CVRs/Costs.
- Share Commercial best practice across Regions, Divisions & wider Group through forums.
- Dual role providing support to Division & regions on Commercial processes and systems.
- A "doing" role - getting into the cost detail in all regions and providing a strong level of assurance.
- Commercial onboarding within regions for new starters to ensure Commercial Life of Site procedure and COINS system is integrated efficiently providing front end support
- Attend monthly CVR project meetings providing challenge to regional teams and support to the Division.
- Commercial assurance outputs into Division - collated Divisional CVR Report, specific system reports (Risks & Opportunities etc.) & CVR actions including key areas of risk
- Ongoing legacy site risk analysis highlighted to Division.
- Ensuring updates from Group are embedded throughout and any costs associated forecasted correctly.
- Embedding of Commercial Life of Site Procedure and ensuring adoption throughout Commercial teams including review of exceptions.
- Ensuring seamless COINS migration into regions providing link between region and COINS project team.
- Provide Group Audit support for review with Regional Quarterly Self-Assessment review.
- Ensure Group wide messaging regarding Group agreements, initiatives, briefing notes, Commercial dashboard results and KPIs.
- Working alongside the Group Estimator to provide benchmarking within regions.
- Provide regional COINS support alongside Group Commercial Analyst
- Identify various non-compliance, rectify and resolve.
- Travel between regions is essential for the role and will be predominantly based in regions within a division.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree in Surveying, Building or similar
- A member of or working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)Coins IT system & Viewpoint document management system knowledge
- Extensive experience working within Construction Industry
- Previous experience as a Managing QS or Commercial Manager within the industry
- A strong understanding or building regulations and legal obligations
- Strong mathematical and IT ability
- Ability to assess and analyse information
- Good understanding working within regions
- Negotiating and networking skills
- Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism of work to strive for improvement
