Salary: £13.50 - £15.00 per hour dependant on experience

Job type: Full time, Permanent

Hours: 08:00-17:00 in low season then hours may increase in our busier season to 07:00 - 18:00. Option to work Saturdays & longer hours in summer season

The role:

We are currently recruiting for a Plant Mechanic / Yard operative to join our busy team. We have a variety of different plant in our Sherburn Yard including Forklifts, Moffett's, reach trucks, roto telehandlers and other small plant which all need servicing and keeping up with daily maintenance. This position would suit a semi-skilled plant, forklift or vehicle engineer.

The prime role for the successful applicant would be daily checks and record keeping of the forklift trucks and small plant in daily use at our head office in Sherburn In Elmet. The role would involve being outside in our yard all day, every day so we are looking for a candidate that is very hands on.

The working conditions would be varied; you will primarily work in a large open yard where there is some indoor space to work on the vehicle issues but also need to be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform regular servicing, safety checks, and repairs on company-owned and hire plant equipment whilst keeping up to date with relevant paperwork
• Complete daily checks across all machinery
• Diagnose faults and carry out minor repairs to company fleet
• Liaising with the Operations Manager and Transport Manager regarding any plant or fleet issues

Requirements:

• Hands on mechanical experience ideally with plant, forklift or vehicle servicing
• Experience operating forklifts or moffetts
• Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
• Be able to diagnose problems and suggest suitable solutions
• Organised, reliable and punctual
• Multilingual would be advantageous
• Driving license
