Hybrid Working: 1–2 days from homeSalary: Competitive + great benefits

The Firm:

Reed Legal are delighted to be partnering with a leading private client firm in Yorkshire. They are one of the oldest law firms in the UK, with a proud heritage, known for their high-quality service and deep-rooted client relationships, some spanning centuries.

They specialise in servicing landowners, landed estates, trusts, charities, farmers, family businesses, and private individuals. Their reputation is built on practical, down-to-earth advice backed by serious technical expertise. They are not driven by targets or profit margins, but by people, relationships, and results, making them a great option for someone looking to escape the high-pressure environment of a bigger city firm.

The Role:They are looking for a Commercial / Rural Property Solicitor (ideally 4+ PQE) to join their close-knit and highly respected property team. This is a new role created due to a growing caseload of complex, high-value work—primarily for long-standing estate and agricultural clients.

You’ll work alongside two partners and a senior solicitor who will support you with intellectually stimulating matters that go beyond routine conveyancing. This is not bulk work—it’s bespoke and relationship-driven.

Why Join:

  • Work-life balance: No set targets or culture of long-hours, with flexibility for appointments and up-to 1-2 days working from home per week
  • Generous Annual Leave: 23 days + public holidays + Christmas closure
  • Supportive culture: Friendly, relaxed office with a sense of humour, mutual respect and office dogs
  • Stability: Join a secure firm with long-standing clients
  • Location: Work in a beautiful listed building in the heart of York
  • Quality of work: Interesting, stimulating and high-value work, with complex problem solving, rather than high-volume caseloads
  • Progression: Annual salary reviews and potential to progress up the ranks to Partnership.
  • Extras: Health insurance, Christmas bonus, Flexibility for appointments and Regular office outings (kids welcome!)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Circa 4+ years PQE in commercial or rural property law
  • An ambitious and collaborative mindset with a practical, client-focused approach
  • A strong understanding of agricultural or estate-related property matters would be beneficial but not essential
  • A desire to work in a firm where quality, not quantity, is the priority

How to Apply:If you’re looking for a role where you can do meaningful, high-quality work in a supportive and historic firm, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply to this advert or contact Kenza at Reed Legal Edinburgh, for more information.
