Registered Forensic Psychologist – HMP

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Forensic Psychologist (RFP) to join a pioneering team at HMP – York, committed to rehabilitation and psychological support for both prisoners and staff.

You’ll be working under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist, delivering high-quality psychological services that meet HCPC standards. This is a supportive environment with opportunities for development and progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions

  • Contribute to the supervision and support of Trainee Psychologists

  • Ensure services adhere to HCPC Standards of Proficiency and Ethics

  • Support rehabilitation programmes and prisoner resettlement initiatives

  • Assist with parole assessments and report writing

  • Help develop strategies to reduce reoffending

Requirements

  • Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

  • Experience within secure or custodial settings is advantageous

  • Familiarity with the Parole Board process and psychological risk assessments (desirable)

  • RAPP registration (desirable)
