Education can be life-changing - especially for people in prison. As a Tutor in prison education, you won't just be teaching - you'll be changing mindsets and building confidence.

This role is ideal for someone who's passionate about making a difference, values face-to-face connection, and wants to work in a setting where the impact of their teaching goes beyond a classroom.

You'll be working as part of a dedicated team within a secure setting, delivering lessons that genuinely empower.

Key responsbilties:

* Identifying the individual needs of learners ensuring that all learners have an individual learning plan which links to their long-term employment goals.

* Continually reviewing our learner's progression to ensure that the training continues to meet their identified needs.

* Preparing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive lesson plans for all sessions that address the training needs of the group including basic literacy, numeracy, language and other social / employability barriers to employment.

* Actively gaining feedback from learners and other sources, reviewing & improving curriculum content accordingly.

* Engaging and motivating both individuals and learner groups to increase retention.Hours:Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PMOne half-day per week: either 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM

To be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Level 2 in Maths and English (Level 3 for Functional Skills Tutors)
  • Confidence to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Passion for rehabilitation and reducing reoffending through education
