Key Responsibilities



Pupil Support

  • Support individual pupils or small groups with a range of additional learning needs, which may include ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, or complex learning difficulties

  • Assist pupils with their learning activities under the direction of the class teacher

  • Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required, in line with care plans and training

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem



Classroom Support

  • Assist the teacher in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials

  • Support the delivery of tailored learning programmes and interventions

  • Help create a structured, calm, and inclusive learning environment

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff



Behaviour and Wellbeing

  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently

  • Support pupils during unstructured times such as break, lunch, and transitions

  • Recognise and respond appropriately to pupils' emotional and sensory needs



Person Specification



Essential

  • Experience of working with children or young people (ideally in an SEN/ALN setting)

  • A caring, patient, and flexible approach

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Good communication and teamwork skill
