About the Position

Dexis is seeking a Computer Operator V (Leader) to support a large-scale Army test and evaluation program. The project provides data collection, technical writing, computer operations, range scheduling, and administrative support services necessary to execute the government's test mission. Support encompasses testing of a wide variety of automotive, combat, electronic, general equipment, and ordnance materiel, with services including data collection and coordination, data compilation and processing, development and management of data collection forms, test monitoring, technical writing and editorial review, reporting, data and software administration, range scheduling, and related operational support.

The Computer Operator V (Leader) will provide senior technical and operational leadership for computer operations supporting test execution and data management activities. The role will support functional users, manage complex electronic data-entry and reporting requirements, troubleshoot data systems and software, and provide technical guidance and training to computer operations personnel and other users.

Work will be performed primarily onsite in Aberdeen, Maryland, with travel to other locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required by mission needs. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Support functional users of computer systems by accepting processing requirements and directing program execution of requirements.
  • Assist government leadership with project control and workload scheduling.
  • Set up, maintain, and recommend improvements to customized electronic data-entry forms for complex test projects.
  • Use web-enabled data management systems such as ODIN and VDLS to track and monitor data flow.
  • Use reporting tools such as Cognos to query databases and produce professional reports based on user requirements.
  • Monitor daily data flow to identify errors or anomalies and coordinate corrective action.
  • Work with users and representatives of other test agencies to develop requirements related to systems under test.
  • Determine whether requirements require new software or enhancements to existing programs.
  • Coordinate with database administrators and provide technical assistance in the use of database management software.
  • Assist in developing user guidance, including handbooks, training manuals, and operating instructions, and identify opportunities to streamline existing procedures.
  • Troubleshoot ODIN and other applicable software applications.
  • Provide technical assistance to lower-level computer operators, government personnel, contractors, and personnel from other test agencies in resolving database and software issues.
  • Conduct or participate in briefings, software training, meetings, and conferences.
  • Support maintenance and repair of laptop computers, ensure warranty procedures are followed, and issue required laptops to personnel before assignments.
  • Operate in Secret environments in accordance with applicable security procedures and regulations when required.

Qualifications 

  • Must meet one of the following education and experience combinations: (1) Bachelor's degree in Computer Studies or a related field such as Information Technology, Information Management Systems, or Computer Technology and six (6) years of experience; (2) Associate's degree in Computer Studies or a related field and eight (8) years of experience; or (3) ten (10) years of experience using data-entry software tools in a Windows environment and industry-standard reporting tools such as IBM Cognos, Microsoft Access, or Crystal Reports.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned functions, which may include working in extreme heat or cold, high humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, at heights, and walking distances over unimproved terrain while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be available to support work outside normal duty hours when required by mission needs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within CONUS and OCONUS as required.
