RII is seeking a committed Radio Frequency Integration Engineer to join our EW/SIGINT team. You will be helping RII solve unique, challenging problems for our Defense and Intelligence Community customers. Research and develop technologies that enable systematic processes for discovering, selecting, organizing, distilling, sharing, developing, and using information to better understand the enemy and the enemy's environment during full-spectrum operations. This role provides advanced collection capabilities with the flexibility to address changes in the operational environment and signatures of interest. Get s#it done.

 

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • RF System Integration: Lead the physical and electrical integration of RF components, including sensors, antennas, cabling, LNAs, filters, and switching networks into complex defense systems.
  • Hands-on Assembly: Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of prototype and production hardware in diverse settings, ranging from controlled Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) environments to rugged outdoor field sites.
  • Test & Validation: Execute comprehensive test plans including Validation and Verification (V&V), First Article Inspections, and functional performance testing of integrated RF systems.
  • Field Operations: Conduct site investigations and outdoor testing to validate system performance in real-world conditions, including antenna rigging and sensor placement.
  • Cable & Harnessing: Design, fabricate, and route RF and power cabling, ensuring proper connections, torque specifications, and weatherproofing for harsh environments.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve integration issues at the system and component level, utilizing standard RF test equipment to isolate faults in signal chains.
  • Documentation: Review and red-line engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams; generate detailed test reports and integration procedures to support Quality Assurance.
  • Collaboration: Interface with mechanical engineers, system architects, and suppliers to resolve packaging constraints and optimize hardware placement for RF performance.


WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
  • RF Hardware Experience:  2+ years' direct experience with RF systems, including the installation, testing, and maintenance of antennas, RF cabling (coax, waveguide), and active/passive RF components.
  • Test Equipment Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise operating benchtop and portable RF test equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, and Oscilloscopes.
  • Field & Lab Adaptability: Proven ability to work effectively in both laboratory environments and outdoor field conditions, including climbing or lifting equipment during assembly.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of RF fundamentals (Gain, VSWR, Noise Figure, P1dB, IP3) and experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Tools & Processes: Experience with prototyping tools, soldering, and basic mechanical fabrication. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Visio, Project) for documentation.
  • Soft Skills: Able to build and maintain customer relationships and partnerships with stakeholders at all levels.


EVEN BETTER
  • Scripting/Analysis: Familiarity with Python or MATLAB for test automation, data collection, or RF analysis.
  • Simulation Tools: Exposure to RF simulation or modeling software (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS) or system modeling tools (STK, Cameo).
  • Agile/DevOps: Experience working in an Agile development environment and utilizing the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) for task tracking.
  • Requirements Management: Familiarity with DOORS Next Gen or similar requirements management tools.
