Maintenance Manager

Location: Aberdeen, South Dakota

Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and supervising maintenance staff while working closely with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, Lab Manager, and other leadership team members. This role ensures optimal plant performance through effective maintenance planning, coordination, and execution.

The Maintenance Manager is also accountable for developing and implementing preventative and proactive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage preventative and proactive maintenance schedules for all process equipment
  • Plan and oversee maintenance projects, including tracking ongoing work and scheduling future initiatives
  • Assist in developing annual repair, maintenance, and capital expenditure budgets
  • Supervise maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and hiring recommendations
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with internal teams and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient completion of work
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to improve overall plant performance
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed
  • Oversee purchasing of parts and supplies and maintain appropriate spare parts inventory
  • Prepare and present reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, shutdown planning, and cost control
  • Identify and resolve process bottlenecks to support production efficiency
  • Communicate maintenance performance and updates to plant leadership
  • Foster strong communication across departments to resolve issues and improve operations
  • Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of maintenance operations
  • Support and uphold company vision, mission, and values
  • Ensure adherence to all safety practices and immediately report any safety concerns
  • Maintain dependable attendance and high-quality work standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production maintenance environment
  • 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Centrifuges
    • Drying equipment
    • Boilers, cooling towers, chillers
    • Air compressors, pumps, valves
    • Electrical systems and 4–20 mA instrumentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong English communication skills
