Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for a Regional Director of Maintenance to provide strong leadership and training to ensure efficient and safe maintenance operations in the Primrose Communities within the assigned region. The Regional Director of Maintenance will coach and indirectly supervise the community Property Maintenance Technicians in maintaining the Primrose buildings, vehicles, and grounds. 

 This position is based in Aberdeen, South Dakota. 


More about the position responsibilities: 

  • Assesses and prioritizes the need for major maintenance and repair projects, in conjunction with the community Property Maintenance Technician.
  • Assists in hiring selection and provides on-site training, as needed, to aid the Property Maintenance Technicians in understanding their role in the communities and develop safe and efficient practices
  •  Periodically performs the duties of the Property Maintenance Technician at an assigned community if the community is without a Property Maintenance Technician for an extended period.
  • Monitors each community’s preventive maintenance procedures in conjunction with the on-site Property Maintenance Technician.
  • Make periodic visits and inspections of individual property conditions and provide a written inspection report with any deficiencies to the Property Maintenance Technician and Executive Director within the community.
  • Assists the Director of Maintenance with purchases of major tools to ensure the best quality and price available, negotiating costs on parts and supplies used by all properties, when applicable.
  • Obtain quotes from outside vendors and will research and negotiate costs to identify the best pricing available.
  • Aids with the startup of new property construction projects, as needed.
  • Provides on-call assistance, by phone, to assigned region, as needed.
  • Attends any in-service educational programs recommended by the Director of Maintenance.


What we're looking for: 

  • Three years’ experience in leading maintenance operations for multiple properties, sites, or locations preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED; technical degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record.
  • Must have knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Strong background in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building trades is preferred.
  • Must be skilled with fire panels and fire suppression systems.
  • Must be able to travel to different properties at least 40% of the time, including some overnight trips, if necessary.
  • Ability to flourish in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Strong training, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Ability to operate a computer and have knowledge in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with onsite teams, vendors, management, and all levels of operation at the Primrose Home Office.
  • Must have the ability to self-motivate and work under little supervision.
  • Ability to establish goals and accountability standards.
