WAVE is currently looking for a Tool and Die Maintenance Technician to join our team!

Hours are Monday through Friday, 2:45 to 10:45 PM, with some required overtime. Training will be completed on day shift (6:15 AM to 2:30 PM) for the first 90 days.

This position is responsible for activities associated primarily with press tooling. The Tool and Die Maintenance technician must demonstrate the ability to modify and repair a variety of tooling, jigs, fixtures and other similar tooling utilized in the manufacturing process. In addition, the Tool and Die Maintenance Technician must fabricate parts from drawings, sketches or verbal instructions.   

General Responsibilities:  

  • Repair/refurbish tooling using a variety of machine shop equipment and bench work to maintain close tolerances of +/-.0005”.  
  • Conduct tooling changeover and assist operator in troubleshooting startup and quality specifications.  
  • Perform try-outs on all repaired/refurbished tooling and verify samples meet quality specifications.  
  • Perform basic machine preventive maintenance on machine shop equipment.  
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.  
  • Perform all work in a safe manner. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.  
  • Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.  
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.  

In addition to the above general responsibilities, the Tool and Die Maintenance Technician must preserve a safe work environment and work in a safe manner following all safety SOPs.  

  • Measures of Effectiveness; including, but not limited to:  
  • Safety – OSHA rate, compliance to regulations/policies, evidence of risk reduction, engagement in 8-Step Safety Process, near-miss reporting  
  • Quality – Customer claims, quarantined product, ability to recognize defects and implement corrective actions through visual inspection while machine is in operation  
  • Productivity – Changeover time, tooling placement and condition accuracy, troubleshooting, inventory management  
  • Communication – Shift handoff and line preparation, Gemba, kaizen event participation  

Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 3 years or more of Tool & Die repair or machine shop experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
